PCA Coaches Workshop [MAUI LEAGUE]

PURPOSE

To aid in our overall Mission of improving the daily player experience, it is required that all Club/team coaches and managers (i.e., those responsible for handling youth soccer players) become Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Certified in order to participate in any HSF sanctioned league.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The "Double-Goal Coach®: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons" Workshop establishes the collective culture of what should be the most important goal in youth athletics:  teaching life lessons through sports.  Each attendee leaves as a PCA-Certified Double-Goal Coach, empowered to Coach for Mastery; Fill Emotional Tanks; and to Honor the Game.

PCA Parents Workshop [MAUI LEAGUE]

PURPOSE

To aid in our overall Mission of improving the daily player experience, the Hawaii Soccer Federation (HSF) is hosting a Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Workshop for parents of players who participate in HSF's Maui, Kaua'i, and Big Island Leagues.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Second-Goal Parent®: Developing Winners in Life Through Sports” Workshop is interactive workshop explores the role of a Second-Goal parent, supporting their child so that he or she has a fun, positive experience in sports. It will examine how parents can help ensure their student-athletes’ experience yields healthy, developmental (physical, social, mental) outcomes that will serve them far beyond the playing field.

Other topics include:

  • Guidelines for developing a positive Coach/Parent relationship
  • Understanding the research-based three stages of Talent Development
  • Engaging children in constructive, meaningful conversations

Parents who attend this workshop will receive the book Positive Sports Parenting, which provides insightful and sensible advice on how parents can help children get the most from sports, as well as helping improve the parent's relationship with their kids.
